Peru 'The Inca Empire' 2011

Below is a overview of the Peru Inca Empire. For a more detailed itinerary, please download our trip brochure, or contact us to request a printed brochure to be posted to you.

Day 1

Arrive Lima. Met and transferred to your hotel. Tour commences in Lima.

Day 2

Drive south via Pisco to HUACACHINA. Ballestas Islands boat excursion enroute. (CB)

Day 3

Drive to Nazca, optional flight to view the famous Nazca lines.

Day 4

Drive to the beautiful city of Arequipa for 2 nights in the foothills of the Andes. (CB)

Day 5

Relaxed walking tour of this beautiful city. Overnight in Arequipa. (AB)

Day 6

Drive to Colca Canyon, The deepest Canyon on earth. Overnight in Chivay for 2 nights (CB,L)

Day 7

Full day touring the spectacular Canyon, home of the mighty Condor. Overnite in Chivay. (CB,L)

Day 8

Spectacular drive through to Cuzco, the Capital of the Incan Empire. Over night in Cuzco for 2 nights (BB,BL)

Day 9

Early morning trek briefing, walking tour of Central Cuzco. (BB)

Days 10-12

Trek  Depart Cuzco, travel to trail head and commence trek to Machu Picchu. (all meals on trek) Click here to view the non-trekkers itinerary option

Day 13

Arrive at Machu Picchu. Meet up with non trekkers. Over night in Aguas Calientes. (B,L)

Day 14

Morning guided tour of the main site of Machu Picchu. Late train and bus back to Cuzco (BB,BL)

Day 15

Free day to explore Cuzco (BB)

Day 16

Drive to Puno on Lake Titicaca stopping at Viracocha Temple and at La Raya Pass. (BB,BL)

Day 17

Charter cruise on Lake Titicaca to Uros Indians and over night on Taquile Island. Homestay. (CB,L,D)

Day 18

Morning exploring Taquile Island and late afternoon boat back to Puno on the mainland. (B,L)

Day 19

Private bus to Copacabana for lunch and bus on to La Paz in Bolivia. (CB,L)

Day 20

Walking tour of Indian Market in La Paz and afternoon free time. (CB)

Day 21

Transfer to airport in La Paz. (CB) Tour finishes in La Paz.

 

Non-trekkers itinerary

Day 10

Travel to the trail head with the trekkers deep in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Spend day in the valley exploring fascinating Incan sights and return to Cuzco for 3 nights in our Cuzco Hotel. (BB)

Day 11

Visit Chinchero village for weaving workshop. World class handicrafts. Return to Cuzco. (BB)

Day 12

Your own time in Cuzco. (BB)

Day 13

You will take a wonderful train trip into the Sacred Valley to join up with the trekkers as they finish their trek in Aquas Calientes. (BB)
